In his famous "Golden Circle" presentation for TED, Simon Sinek presented us with the idea that companies generally focus on WHAT they do for their customers, and HOW they do it. Instead, however, customers really want to understand WHY.
The same could be said about the employees of a company. Most understand the WHAT and HOW of their individual job function, but very few understand WHY the company does what it does, and WHY every employee's contribution is so critical to the long term success of the business.
